I had been eyeing up this little beast of a toy for quite a while. I had been experimenting with prostate play for a while, and was finding that I needed something…more.

Was it power? Was it Girth? I don’t know. All I know is, I had an itch to scratch. Unfortunately, this was just a little out of my price range. I had never spent over £100 on a single toy before, and I wasn’t certain I could justify it.

But something about this toy just kept drawing me in. I wanted to know more. This partly could be because Fun Factory also made the Cobra Libre – one of the most innovative masturbation devices I had ever used (at the time). So I guess my expectations for the Stronic Zwei Pulsator were already pretty high. You could say that was a bad thing – perhaps it’s always best to set your expectations low and then be pleasantly surprised when it surpasses.

The Stronic toys are a new breed of electronic toy – this is not your typical vibrator. In fact, it doesn’t ‘vibrate’ at all. Inside the shaft of the Zwei is seriously strong magnet which moves backwards and forwards rapidly (which is what creates the ‘thrusting’ motion), which is designed to mimic the motion of ‘real sex’.

As always, Lovehoney delivered with exceptionally quick timing, which is good, as this toy requires a 16 hour battery charge! So when the package arrived, I hurried to unbox it and stick it on to charge.

First impressions

Like all Fun Factory products, the Stronic Zwei comes in a beautiful little gift box – there is the very colourful and fun outer slip, and then the gorgeous gold box underneath. Inside, the Stronic is nestled in a bright red bed, along with the instructions and the USB charger.

When pulling the toy out of the packaging, there is a sense of childish wonder and excitement. It is definitely a very heavy and somewhat imposing toy – I was genuinely surprised at how heavy it was!  The Shaft has a slight curve at the tip, and at it’s widest point, it’s got a girth of 5.75 inches. This would make it the widest anal toy I own, so I was a little intimidated, but at the same time excited to take on the challenge.

You need to charge the toy for a good 16 hours at least, meaning that you don’t get to play right away (boo!) however charging is extremely simple – plug the USB into your laptop and then attach the magnetic charge point to the base and then wait… patiently…

The insertable end of the toy is made with soft, sleek seam free silicone and it feels amazing. However, this does mean that it attracts dust like it’s going out of style. So unless you have somewhere dust-free to store it, you’re probably going to want to give it a little wipe before using. The controls are amazingly simple. You just press the ‘fun’ button to get the party started, and the + and – buttons (plus & minus) to scroll through the multitude of different functions. When you initially power this behemoth into life, it starts on what is determined as ‘the perfect setting’. There are so many different functions that to discuss them all here would turn an already long review into a novel. But needless to say, there is something for everyone, whether you like it soft and slow or hard and fast.

How to use

I would definitely recommend ‘warming up’ before giving this beast a try. Whilst it does have a tapered tip, if you are not properly prepared, it can be quite tricky getting the whole toy inserted. So I began with some butt plugs, graduating in size until I was ready to attempt to take on this mammoth toy. As the toy is silicone, you will need to use LOTS of WATER-BASED Lube (and I would recommend anal specific lube) – due to the nature and size of this toy, you will want something thick and long lasting.

So after getting myself prepared, I slathered the Stronic with lube and made sure my delicate area was sufficiently slippery before I began the slow process of insertion. I could really feel it filling me out and stretching me. It was certainly a bit more than I was used to, but it felt really good, so I kept on going. With one final push, I managed to insert the whole shaft. I lay there feeling immensely full – it was an odd sensation, but one that made me feel incredibly satisfied. I took some time to just lay there and get used to the feeling before I started playing.

After 15 minutes, the time had come. I held my breath. The sweat was pouring from me in anticipation of what was about to come next. I carefully clicked the ‘fun’ button and shut my eyes. The Zwei grumbled into life and began doing it’s thing. “Well this is an interesting feeling”, I thought. When you press the ‘Fun’ button, the Zwei launches into it’s ‘optimal’ setting. It’s neither too fast, or too slow – as Goldilocks would say, it was just right. However, at this point I noticed that it didn’t really feel too much like it was ‘thrusting’ – it felt more like a very deep vibration. Now, I am a self-confessed power queen – and I like things a little harder and faster – so I decided to whack up the power a bit more.

The thrusting became ever so slightly more pronounced when turned up, but it did still feel like very deep vibrations, rather than ‘thrusting’. That’s not to say it didn’t feel good (which it bloody well did!) – but I was a little disappointed with the thrusting action. It definitely did not mimic the ‘sensations’ of ‘real sex’.

I didn’t achieve a prostate orgasm the first go. As this was a little more powerful than what I had been previously used too, it was a little over-whelming on the first go. Subsequent sessions with the Zwei got easier, and I was able to find a rhythm that I was comfortable with. However a year later, I still haven’t had a prostate orgasm with this particular toy myself and I’m struggling to understand why. Sure, it’s stimulating my prostate, but it feels like there is something missing, and I’m not sure what it is. However when used during a masturbation session, the ‘thrusting’ and stretched out feeling do help me get to orgasm relatively quickly in other ways, and I suppose that’s not a bad thing really. I think ow things like the L’Amourose Rosa and the Nexus Revo have arrived on the scene, my prostate has much higher expectations – therefore this has taken a back seat, but I still dig him out now and again, for old times sake.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Clean up is a breeze – the whole unit is fully waterproof, so plenty of warm water and sex toy cleaner will get this monster ready to play again in no time. The only problem is trying to find somewhere for it to dry where it won’t attract dust. But considering the rate of dust it attracted as soon as it was out of the box, I think I might be losing that battle over and over… but to be honest, he’s so good at what he does, I’m just going to let him keep doing his thing, and if he gets a little dusty, well we will just have to take a shower or a bath together…

Summary

I have to say, over the past few months, I’ve seen a lot of differing opinions on the Stronic range from Fun Factory. Some bloggers are absolutely worshipping them, others are completely hating them. I’m kind of in the middle. Whilst the sensation can be very interesting, the wider girth can be a bit over-whelming, unless you seriously do some warming up first (which I would always recommend anyway). If you lower your expectations, I think you might be pleasantly surprised – it’s not as ground-breaking as people are making it out to be, but as a change from your typical vibrating toys, this one does have something special, and is a toy I would recommend checking out.
