It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed a lube on the blog, and I fully appreciate that this is something I really need to rectify because a good lube is just as important when it comes to sex and sex toys. My favourite kind is Hybrid Lube.

So I will do my best to get some new lubes in to review – so watch this space. With that in mind, it brings me to the subject of today’s review. I was contacted by the lovely people over at UberKinky who asked if there was anything I was interested in reviewing for them. After having a good browse through their Hybrid Lube section (because you know how much I love a good hybrid lube) – I spotted this little tube of hybrid lube that was silicone-free – it was a mix of water and coconut oil.

Brilliant, I thought. A rich, creamy hybrid lube that’s perfect for use with silicone sex toys – amazing! I’ll try some of that. For reasons that are unknown to me right now, I chose to review the lube with a ‘warming’ effect. I don’t know if it’s because at that particular moment, I was feeling chilly or what, I don’t know. It arrived in a small bundle of goodies, and it was one of the first things I was up for reviewing straight away. So how did we get on with the System JO Silicone Free Hybrid Lube with Coconut Oil? Well, read on and find out…

Uberkinky sent me the System JO Silicone Free Hybrid Lubricant with Coconut Oil free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

First Impressions

The bottle is much smaller than I really was expecting. I guess I didn’t pay attention to the volume when I added it to my wishlist – but it’s a cute 30ml bottle – so it’s a handy size for the handbag or the bedside cabinet. It’s got this gorgeous matte label around the tube which just feels so nice – I don’t know why, but i’m a sucker for a smooth shiny shaft… no wait, maybe I do know. Anyway…

There are a LOT of ingredients in this lube – it’s best if you take a look at the ingredients label in the pictures below to see exactly what is inside. This lube is a blend of Water and Coconut Oil, so it’s supposed to give you the long-lasting, moisturising effects of a silicone hybrid – but be perfectly safe to use with silicone toys. As someone who owns a lot of silicone dildos, this is a plus. It’s glycerine and paraben free and contains extracts of Shea butter which helps give the lube its soft, creamy texture. It also has a very mild coconut scent as well, which is quite pleasant.

In Use

I initially that I would use it solo, with toys first because if I didn’t like it, I didn’t want it to ruin the moment. But it doesn’t always work out that way, and the first time I took the lube for a test drive, was during sexy times with the Mr. We were in the middle of testing out a mount with our Fleshjack’s and I needed lube, so I grabbed this – as because it’s not silicone based, it should be safe to use with these as well. I squirted a good dose into the Fleshjack and then some onto myself and began to give the Mr a bit of a show.

Initially things were pretty good. The lube has a good consistency, a brilliant creamy texture and it was slick and slippery – which obviously is the way it should be. It’s white in colour, so again, it sort of has a ‘spunk’ look about it, which if you are into that sort of thing (like I am) then it’s a plus. As I was getting into my stride (and the Mr was thoroughly enjoying the show) things started to heat up.

Literally. I could feel a warming sensation spreading along the length of my shaft. And it continued. To the point where it felt like it was actually burning. I stood there, tears in my eyes as I pulled out and shouted ‘JESUS CHRIST’. It was like I had just stuck my cock in a beehive full of extremely pissed off bees. Mid-show I had to rush to the bathroom and splash a load of cold water on my junk to try and put out the flames.

I’d completely lost my mojo and ended up having to cut the session short. I wondered whether I had perhaps used ‘too much’ and it was just too intense for that sort of sensitive area. I (foolishly) decided to give it another try – this time, on my own – so if it did cause me an issue, I would still t least maintain a small amount of dignity as I run starkers into the bathroom to douse the heat with a quick cold shower. This time, I just decided to use a little bit in my hand and to masturbate regularly – just to see if that would make a difference – and it didn’t.

Granted, the sensation wasn’t quite as intense as it was previously – but it definitely erred on the ‘unpleasant’ side of ‘warm’. It certainly didn’t add anything to the experience. I lay there, worrying about having to use it as an internal lube. Part of me felt that I needed to ensure it was the same through ALL usage. However, it was decided that I would just use a little on my finger, and just use it very low (basically, right on the outside of the anus) – if it was going to cause any irritation, i’d feel it here and it would be much easier to get rid of, should it create a ring of fire.

Unfortunately, again I was met with a slightly uncomfortable ‘stinging’ sensation. I was certainly glad that I hadn’t slathered it all over that thick juicy dildo I had my eye on. If I had, I might have had to call 999 (or at least 111). So I threw the bottle back into the toy box and vowed that it would never EVER touch any of my orifices ever again.

Summary

In short, I really didn’t like this lube. At least, this particular lube. I have learned that there is just a standard formulation that doesn’t have any ‘effects’ – it’s just lube. I may have to give that a try because in all honesty, before the burning hellfire encased my groin in agony, the actual texture, consistency and slipperiness of the lube was OK – it left the skin soft and silky where it had been used – it just felt like I was masturbating with a glove made from stinging nettles – and unless that’s your bag – for most of us, I would imagine that’s a sensation that most would really want to avoid. Now, it could just be me – perhaps I have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients – I don’t know. If you want to give this a try, I would definitely recommend doing a little ‘patch’ test if possible first.

On the plus side, it’s only £4.99 a bottle, so it’s small and cheap, so if it’s not quite right for you, then it’s not a huge loss.
