I coveted this dildo for SUCH a long time. And for a long time, I didn’t really know why.
Typically, when I looked for Dildos, I only looked at the ‘realistic’ ones as they were all that really interested me. But there was something about this dildo that was SCREAMING my name. Was it the dual colour (which is simply GORGEOUS) or was it the promise of an intense ride, thanks to that ‘melting’ texture?
As if the sex toy gods had heard my cries and prayers, a fellow blogger who I adore, Apricot Creams, was shifting a load of silicone dildos – and this beauty was one she was offering and I jumped at the chance of having it. Now, typically I wouldn’t advocate things like taking on a pre-owned toy – but as the Splash, like all Tantus dildos is made from 100% platinum cured silicone, it can be sterilised, ensuring that no bodily fluids or bacteria ever remain inside or on the toy – it arrived in the same condition I would have expected it to arrive had it come from Tantus direct.
First Impressions
Unfortunately, I didn’t receive this in it’s original packaging, so I can’t show you how it looks – however my understanding it’s packaged exactly the same as the Throb which I received for review a little while a go.
This dildo looks even better in the flesh than it does in photos. It’s marbled purple/pearlescent white colour looks simply stunning and in the right light, it looks like it sparkles. Because of the texture, the Splash looks far more formidable than it actually is. The shaft is about 6.5 inches long, and has a circumference around it’s widest point of 5 inches – so it’s not the girthiest dildo I have – but it certainly looks like it could be.
It’s made from 100% platinum cure silicone, and it has a good amount of ‘squishiness’ to it – making it flexible, but it still retains a decent amount of firmness. The base of the Splash is flat, and is harness compatible, so you can kick up pegging play a notch or two with the Splash. The funny thing I found with the Splash (and I don’t know if it’s just the one I have here) but when I slap it down on the table or slap it to the wall – despite not having a suction cup – it does actually ‘stick’ – and it sticks quite firmly! This certainly made it really easy for me to put the Splash through it’s paces.
In Use
OK, this is definitely not a dildo for the feint-of-heart or those who don’t dig texture on their toys. The tip of the Splash is quite rounded, and not tapered, so it wasn’t something I could jump into from a cold start like I can with other dildos of a similar size – this was definitely one I needed to work up to.
So, I start off with the Throb, before moving on to the Bondara silicone dildo, where I can then switch it on up and insert the Splash. Even with a warm up, you’ll still want to ensure you’ve used plenty of lube, as the silicone on the Splash can create a little bit of drag which can be uncomfortable if you’ve not slicked yourself up enough. After I’ve gotten myself all prepped, the rounded head of the Splash slides in easily. At the tip of the Splash, there are ridges which means the intense stimulation starts right away. In fact, the ridges almost look Klingon. To be honest, when I look at the Splash from a distance, it almost looks like the baby alien that burst out of John Hurt’s chest in ‘Alien’. But far cuter, and with less teeth.
As you slide deeper onto the Splash, the thick, bulbous drip texture stretches you and if you can make it all the way down to the bottom, it thins out and becomes smooth.
The Splash has a curve in the shaft, which helps it provide stimulation to my prostate, and thanks to that large, rounded head – it really gives the P-Spot a bloody good work out. The intense texture also makes it feel thicker than it really is, and it really does feel like it’s stretching me out and gives me a great, full feeling – but thankfully not to the point of feeling ‘too much’ – at least not for me, anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed every second riding this wave, and the orgasm it helped produce was a proper knee-trembler. Just how I like them.
Clean-up and Maintenance
The Splash is really simple to take care for, like all silicone products are. You can just wash it with warm water and toy cleaner, or you can boil it, or sterilise it in a weak bleach solution (just remember, if you do choose that route, make sure it’s throughly rinsed before you store it/use it).
Summary
As non-realistic dildos go – this one is amazing. It’s got enough girth to satisfy, as well as an intense texture which gives me goosebumps with each thrust. For some, the texture might be a bit too much, however thanks to the relative softness of the silicone here, it’s not uncomfortable. Due to it’s large, rounded tip – I would say this is definitely an intermediate and above dildo, and you’ll certainly want to try and warm up before use. It’s also REALLY PRETTY to look at.
